The spring that names the village still flows beside the parish church, at thirteen hundred and thirty-five metres. Fons frigida in Latin, 'cold spring', a direct description that the geography keeps literal to this day. The pilgrim coming down from the Poyo pass makes the first long stop here, at one of the highest points of the Galician Francés.
