Traditional Catalan rural house characteristic of the countryside between the 14th and 19th centuries, generally with rectangular plan of two or three storeys (ground floor for animals, first for the dwelling, second for storage), two-pitched tile roof and masonry walls. The Catalan masía is one of the most studied vernacular architectural models of the western Mediterranean.
